It’s a bittersweet day at Alwood as we down tools for our summer break. Today we say goodbye to Sammy Johnston after an astonishing 49 years of service.
Joining the business as a young man back in 1969 Sammy, jokes that it was then, that his troubles started! Working for “The Boss” Alfred Briggs, he learnt his craft under some of the most talented cabinet makers in Ireland.
Over the last 49 years Sammy has used his skills on nearly every project which has left our factory. When asked what the most important part of being a cabinet maker is he said “It’s knowing how to fix a problem when something goes wrong…. however, that rarely happens”
Sammy has seen the various styles and trends of kitchens go in and out of fashion however one thing remained the same. Alwoods level of craftsmanship used to create breath-taking kitchens and bedrooms.
Sammy is a gentleman in everyway and will be dearly missed by all of the Alwood team. We know his wife and children will keep him busy. Hopefully now with his spare time he can actually win a few rounds of golf!
On behalf of everyone at Alwood we would like to wish Sammy a relaxed and enjoyable retirement. We will be forever grateful for your loyalty through all the years.
