There are celebrations aplenty at Alwood, as the longest established kitchen company in Ireland reaches an impressive milestone of 80 years in business. The company has stood the test of time and received numerous awards along the way, holding more Kitchen Industry awards than any other UK or Irish Kitchen Company, as well as being named winner of the UK’s past two KBB Design awards. The history behind this company is remarkable, starting out with Alfred Briggs making furniture as a wedding present 1933. Current owner Wilson Briggs has been involved in the business since he was a teenager, picking up two lifetime achievement awards within the kitchen industry. Alwood has weathered the decades by consistently creating quality products with a team that is enthusiastic, focused and committed to design, and to the customer. From the most ornate bespoke collections to the most simplistic styles, Alwood provides quality and value across a wide spectrum and is consistently at the forefront of modern design. Alwood’s moved to Lurgan in the 1940’s and is still manufacturing from this site and as the first kitchen manufacturer in the country, it is ironic that it is one of the few kitchen companies left still manufacturing today.
